Strawberry Blossom Miniature Study is a botanical illustration created as part of my Blooming Marvelous May and Miniature May art challenges. The piece focuses on the delicate beauty of a strawberry flower, highlighting the often-overlooked bloom that eventually develops into fruit.
The composition emphasizes the contrast between bright white petals, warm golden details, and the surrounding layers of rich green foliage. Through a combination of traditional and digital techniques, I sought to create a small but visually engaging study of a common garden plant.
Creative Process
The artwork began with a traditional sketch using mechanical pencil and kneaded eraser. Color and definition were added through colored pencil, India ink pen, and acrylic paint pen. After completing the physical artwork, I used Snapseed and Procreate to refine the presentation while preserving the texture and character of the original piece.
