Pasturebound Guardian – Australian Shepherd Sheep Hex
Pasturebound Guardian is part of an ongoing series exploring Settlers of Catan resource tiles through dog-inspired artwork. This piece focuses on the sheep (pasture) hex, represented by an Australian Shepherd—one of the most iconic herding breeds.
The goal of this series is to transform flat, symbolic game elements into grounded, narrative-driven environments. In this work, the pasture becomes more than a resource—it becomes a living space, defined by stewardship, awareness, and control.
The Australian Shepherd is depicted in a moment of still vigilance, embodying the quiet authority required to manage and protect a flock. The composition emphasizes balance and presence rather than motion, aligning with the role of the pasture resource as a foundation for growth and progression in gameplay.

Stuart Semple Super Base
White 2.0 acrylic paint
POSCA acrylic paint pens for linework and detailing
Protective mattifying membrane coat varnish
Final digital refinements in Snapseed and Procreate
The combination of high-contrast acrylic layering and controlled linework was used to create a clean, stylized finish while maintaining a tactile, hand-crafted feel.
