Quiet Vigil in the Snow captures a moment of calm awareness in a winter setting. Rather than action, this piece focuses on stillness—an alert German Shepherd seated quietly in the snow, grounded and observant.
The artwork was created using traditional mixed media. Mechanical pencil and kneaded eraser were used to establish form and soft transitions, while colored pencil introduced subtle warmth beneath the cool winter tones. Acrylic paint pens added structure and contrast, and white ink applied with a fountain pen was used to define snow highlights and atmosphere.
The goal was to preserve visible texture and hand-drawn variation, allowing the materials themselves to contribute to the sense of cold, silence, and presence.
