Litter Lords is a digital game illustration created in Procreate for my original card game project, Barker’s of Ruin.
The piece visualizes one of the games associated with Catrick the Cheat, combining several of its gameplay elements into a single scene. Catrick occupies the center of his litter-box arena while playing cards, dice, Elimino pieces, gems, garbage, and other objects surround him.
The heroes' side of Litter Lords uses playing-card mechanics inspired by Garbage, with additional Barker’s of Ruin rules involving individual and allied discard piles and Catrick’s Elimino deck.
Catrick uses dice-based attacks instead. His damage escalates as he progresses toward winning, beginning at 0.5× damage and eventually reaching 3× damage while forcing damaged heroes to randomly discard as many as four cards.
Litter Lords is one of eight games encountered during Phase 1 of Catrick’s boss battle. The battle then transitions into Phase 2, Undead Tabbies, where heroes who died during the first phase become zombies that Catrick can clone.
My goal with the illustration was to translate those overlapping mechanics into a deliberately busy and chaotic composition that reflects Catrick’s personality and role within Barker’s of Ruin.
